By mid-June, North Texas roofs have already absorbed two months of severe weather and are headed into the brutal radiant-heat stretch. A short maintenance pass right now pays for itself ten times over.
The 20-minute pass
- Walk the perimeter and look for displaced or missing shingles on the ground.
- Photograph every elevation from the yard — same angles as your spring baseline.
- Flush gutters and downspouts; standing water is the #1 cause of fascia rot in July.
- Trim any branches within 6 feet of the roofline.
- Check attic temps mid-afternoon — anything over 140°F is cooking your shingles from below.
The professional pass
If your roof is over 8 years old, this is the right month for a documented inspection. You want a damage baseline on file before the July–August storm cycle, and adjuster availability is still reasonable in late May.
