You don't need a ladder or a drone. Ten minutes from the ground and your driveway is enough to set you up for a clean claim if a storm hits this week.
The walk
- Stand at each corner of your house and photograph the roof slopes you can see.
- Get every elevation: front, back, both sides.
- Photograph gutters, downspouts, fascia, and any visible flashing.
- Capture your HVAC units, fence, outdoor furniture, and vehicles.
- Snap the date/time on your phone's lock screen so the metadata is locked in.
The cleanup
- Clear gutters of debris — backed-up water during a hail event hides damage and creates new damage.
- Move patio furniture and grills under cover; they become projectiles in 70+ mph wind.
- Park vehicles in the garage or under solid cover, not under trees.
The file
Drop everything into a single cloud folder labeled with today's date. If a claim comes, you'll have a clean before/after that no adjuster can argue with.
